A woodcut skull opens at the cranium into a glass fishbowl where a single goldfish swims.
The famous short memory is a myth. Goldfish remember for at least three months: in experiments at the University of Plymouth they learned to press a lever for food, and to come back at the one hour a day it worked. In 2022 a team in Israel reported teaching six goldfish to steer a wheeled tank across a room. So forgetting is a choice.
