A woodcut crow and a barn owl perch over a single bright persimmon, captioned We can disagree and still be friends.
In life crows and owls are not friends. Crows gather by the dozen to mob an owl they find, and great horned owls take crows off their roosts at night. Crows hold grudges as well: in a Seattle study, birds were still scolding the mask worn by the people who had trapped them nearly seven years later.
