The Buddha sits in meditation on the coils of a giant cobra while its hoods fan out over his head and rain falls around them. The caption reads RISKY ISNESS.
The cobra is Mucalinda, the naga king. In the Udana, an early Buddhist text, a storm broke soon after the awakening, and Mucalinda wrapped his coils seven times around the Buddha and held his hood over him for seven days. Khmer sculptors of the Angkor period made the scene their own around the year 1200. It looks dangerous. It is shelter.
